Annually from October 15th through December 7th, Medicare eligible individuals have an opportunity to join, switch or drop a Medicare Advantage (Part C) or Prescription Drug (Part D) Plan.
It’s called the Medicare Open Enrollment Period, which explains all the television, radio and print media ads. If you're 65 or older, enjoy being the focus of all that attention. (Maybe that's why everyone looks so happy! But I digress.)
So, now’s the time to check out Medicare.gov for a refresher on some of the basic eligibility rules and enrollment deadlines.
Already covered by an Advantage Plan? If so, by now you should have received a Notice from your insurer telling you about any changes. Maybe you’re wondering if there are better plans this year. You can preview those HERE.
BTW, if like me, you find the website a bit clunky, check out the comparisons beginning on page 124 of a CMS reference book entitled Medicare & You 2022. It was in your mailbox a couple of weeks ago. (I’ll bet the Post Office just
loves delivering 63 million of these every year. But I digress again.)
Websites? Books? “C’ mon, Man. Where does one turn for knowledgeable help around here?”
Thought you’d never ask!
