In the race between narrow HMO-like networks (Health Plan B) versus slightly more expensive PPO networks (Plan A), the results are in.
With 155 ballots received (nice turn out, thank you) - absent any court challenges - the winner is: Plan A, with 56% of the total; Plan B 43.9%. (There was one write in ballot: “None of the above” from Mary Baker Eddy.)
This is interesting in that a larger majority of my Tips subscribers might be considered affluent; i.e., easily able to pay the higher premium for a broader network.
Take note employers, since typically you make this ‘election’ on behalf of the employees covered under your group contract.
In the individual market, insurers make that choice by virtue of the fact few, if any, PPO options exist.
Maybe we need a little ‘voter reform.’
Speaking of the individual market, the Biden administration just extended the end of the Covid Special Election Period from May 15th to August 15th. Talk about ballot harvesting.
