‘Amy,’ ‘Albert,’ and ‘Bill’ are just allonyms for those who regularly contact us.
After writing about ‘Dale’ last week, for example, ‘Janie’ sent this:
“Your message tonight resonated big time.
“Almost 22 years ago my husband received a liver transplant.
“We had excellent health insurance at the time (whew!), but meds were a different story. When we discovered the monthly cost of life saving anti-rejection medication, we were in shock...$2,000.
The hospital social worker suggested we write directly to the [pharmaceutical] company. We did and they very generously offered to charge us nothing, and did so for the next decade!”
She added:
“Early on, we lost serious money because we were not educated in the fine art of insurance. We had to get smart fast; hubby has had over 25 surgeries. I still marvel at those who don't know the difference between a co-pay and deductible. Every January and February I ripped out my eyelashes....”
Imagine! (It's May, 'Janie', have they grown back?)
Statistically, eight out of ten enjoy reasonably good health and may never need help. For those who do, always remember we’re here.
Thanks to ‘Janie’ - and You - for making us "smart" while inspiring these Tips.
