Dale regularly reads my Tips. Thank you.
In those, I’ve often mentioned websites like GoodRx, where coupons for drugs at discounted prices can readily be found.
Dale recently had an episode of Atrial Fibrillation (AFib) which can lead to blood clots or strokes. His doctor has prescribed Xarelto, a pricey medication retailing for $599 for a 30 day supply. Another brand name drug in this class – Eliquis – is about $518/month.
Note how often you see these advertised. But I digress.
Dale found generic blood thinners like Warfarin (brand names Coumadin or Jantovin) available for $8/month, but this isn’t a time to second guess his doctor's orders. Strokes are serious business.
Still, the best on line coupons for Xarelto are about $493.02. Each month!
Dale kept digging.
Xarelto’s manufacturer is a company called Janssen. On their website, he enrolled in a discount program allowing him to get his first 30 day supply free. Then monthly re-fills for a year at $85 each through Wegmans Pharmacies. They’re not local but who cares; it’s a mail order service!
The lesson here?
Taking Dale’s lead, I checked several drug manufacturer’s websites.
Deals abound!
When those run out, what then? But again, I digress.
