As I write, it’s certain we’ll have a new President.
Candidate Biden’s vision for health care has been on his website for months and months. In short, protect and improve ‘Obamacare.’
Loftier goals, such as a ‘Public Option,’ are unlikely with Mitch McConnell holding the Senate.
That leaves a President’s ability to issue Executive Orders.
Those from the last six months (see The Federal Register) are easily reversed and could be a target for President Biden. Note however, others seem consistent with his own vision: EO 13947, EO 13941, EO 13937, EO 13939? (Save yourself a lot of time; just hold your cursor over the link to see the topic. Only John Torinus would actually read them!)
Trump’s liberalized rules on short term medical plans, Health Reimbursement Arrangements - anything that eats away at the Obamacare pool - might also be the focus of new EO’s.
Bottom line?
In the decade since the passage of The Affordable Care Act, premiums have more than doubled. (Source: HHS.gov)
So, as I’ve written a gazillion times, premiums are simply a function of health care costs, which have not been abated under any President.
What about Texas v. U.S? Yawn.
