November 4th: the day all those ads end. Amen!
But wait. There are two more ‘campaigns’ in progress with ‘voting’ deadlines still a ways off.
We wrote about the Medicare Open Enrollment Period (OEP) when it started October 15th; it ends December 7th. Omnipresent ads offering "zero or low premium plans with dental, vision, hearing aids" and an array of value added benefits deceptively seem to be Medicare
sponsored.
Be careful. Many are not. Watch for the small print disclaimers and when in doubt, make sure the information you’re getting is from Medicare.gov, or a trusted insurance
advisor.
Then today, we start the Health Insurance Marketplace (Obamacare) Annual Election Period (AEP); it runs from November 1st thru December 15th. Find the basics at HealthCare.gov or again, call a
“certified” insurance broker.
For individuals under age 65 who do not get health insurance through an employer, the ‘candidates’ for your ‘vote’ (by county) are HERE.
If you happen to be a business owner with at least one other FT employee, even if they have coverage elsewhere, you may be able to purchase coverage for a group(!) of one.
‘Voting’ for that option is the 1st of every month.
