Two weeks ago, I wrote about my annual exam.
According to Stephen K. Klasko, MD, MBA and CEO of Jefferson Health in Philadelphia, that's an unnecessary ritual.
Think about it.
You set the appointment weeks in advance. Then you fast for lab work. Finally, the doctor visit involves drive time and germs in the waiting room.
Repeat in 12 months, if you haven’t croaked by then. (Sorry, I’ve been watching too much news!)
Covid-19 has accelerated advancements in medical AI, most notably telemedicine.
But that’s just the start.
Coming soon are ‘wearable’ technologies. Dr. Klasko talks about textiles and fibers that monitor blood pressure, blood sugar, etc. 24/7. (Fitbit is already so passé.) How about an App that alerts you to an episode of AFib!
It’s all coming. And sooner than you might think.
Kudos to the Concordia University School of Business’ Healthcare Economics Summit Friday (7/31). Dr. Klasko was among many presenters, albeit one of the most thought provoking. I’ll try and get his talk to you later this week. It’s an entertaining 60 minutes and will save you the trouble of reading his 134 page book.
Writing makes me hungry. Some ice cream would hit the spot. (BeeepBeeepBeeep!)
