Simple answer. Duh!
I have my annual exam Monday. In advance of that, I had lab work done early Friday.
Just reviewed the results.
Actually, all my numbers are respectable; Cholesterol is 179 (<200 desired); Total Chol/HDL Ratio is 2.11 (‘optimum’ < 3.5). Yada. Yada. Yada.
But then there’s these two numbers; Glucose at 117 (was 108 last year) and glycohemoglobin at 5.6 (was 5.4; 5.7 – 6.4 is pre-diabetic).
S#*T!
Over the last three months, many of us have been guilty of eating and drinking too much. I thought I’d share in my case, how a few pounds gained during the 'covid quarantine’ has had a direct effect on my health.
A second lesson from this anecdote is the value of staying on top of preventive care and accessing your past records on MyChart or similar platforms. (I mean really, blood drawn on Friday morning at 8:00 and the results are accessible
24 hours later. Amazing!)
Now, how does that saying go; “If You Can’t Measure it, You Can’t Improve It?”
Didn’t really need Peter Drucker. My belt told me all I needed to know!
P.S. We had a major IT meltdown this week. If you recently sent emails that bounced back undeliverable, our email addresses have not changed. All is well now. Thanks for your patience while we recovered.
