Ed was in our office last year. In the early stages of a divorce, he wanted to explore options for health insurance; e.g., COBRA under his wife’s plan, buying his own coverage, etc.
This week, he stopped in again. He’s divorced now but did not elect COBRA or, buy his own coverage during an ACA SEP (at the time of the divorce) or, the 1/1 OEP.
Self-employed, 54 years old, uninsured and now he wants our help!
Unable to perform a brain transplant, our only other option is to sell him a short term medical plan; one that won’t cover pre-existing conditions.
Ed is fine with that, asserting he comes from a “good gene pool” and has never been sick a day in his life. He asked our office to run a couple of quotes and he’d come back to sign up.
That night, 36 year old professional athlete Jay Boumeester had a cardiac episode during the first period of a St. Louis Blues hockey game.
Still, no sign of Ed!
