Last week I posed this challenge; if you were in charge, what is the one thing you would do to improve your health care experience in 2020.
Your answers: Transparency. Reduce excessive testing. Transparency. Easier to read EOB’s. Transparency. Figure out how to shorten the time it takes to see a doctor and then increase the time they spend with you. Transparency. Set a limit on how much premiums can increase in any one year. Transparency. Bring on a Single Payer Health System. (He’s been
Unsubscribed!!) Transparency. Lower prescription prices. Transparency. Eliminate direct to consumer prescription advertising. Transparency.
All good answers. Thank you.
In one way or another this theme was part of the majority of your replies; i.e., the notion that consumers - unleashed from price obfuscation - will gravitate to better value, and costs will come down.
Just to stir the pot a bit, I’ll challenge that theory in future Tips.
For starters, consider this.
Many of our health insurers have for years provided on line pricing integrated with the member’s plan design, so that you can see in advance your discounted net out of pocket cost of care.
You asked for it. So use it!
Happy New Year.
