Not so fast.
Ed has a family history of melanoma, an often deadly form of skin cancer. No wonder then, he’s proactive about prevention.
First, he gets an annual physical. According to Healthline, one part of an annual exam should include a thorough inspection of your skin. (Rehearse for your next exam at this link.)
Remember, all this is covered at 100% by most health insurance plans. That was a requirement of ‘Obamacare.’
Second, Ed always uses a zinc oxide sunscreen recommended by his physician, and he pays for it with pre-tax dollars using his flexible spending account.
My savvy readers might be thinking; “Wait, over the counter medications don’t qualify for Sec 125 or HSA reimbursements.”
Good catch. But they do if they’re prescribed by a physician. Click here for a review of eligible medical expenses.
And you know what, the NHS even has guidelines for when it is appropriate for your doctor to ‘prescribe’ sunscreens. (Now I’m just showing off!)
So, cover up and have it be covered.
School’s out.
