It’s too cold to go fishing and anyway, that’s not what’s on my mind.
Did you see the Politifact column in Thursday’s paper by Jon Greenberg? It had to do with health care out of pocket costs in Canada, where everything is said to be ‘free.’
But it isn’t.
Apparently that free care is only for in-patient hospital and physician services. Out-patient services and many prescriptions weren’t a part of the Canadian health plan when it was crafted 60 years ago. And, the article didn’t say a word about either taxes or waiting times.
I have a copy if you’re interested.
Here’s the point of this week’s Tip.
We’re already heading into another election cycle. Expect to hear more and more about health care.
I’ve asked my staff to pay attention and understand we’re here to help you sift fact from fiction.
One more thought.
Last summer word spread I had sold my business and was retiring. Nope.
Quite the opposite. I’ve spent the weekend reaching out to pundits and policymakers challenging them to come up with non-partisan solutions to the health care cost conundrum.
Until we make real progress toward reform, my rod and reel can wait.
(I wonder if Jon Richards and Curt Gielow are retired.)
