Vicki is 71 and lives alone on a very modest salary. Yes, she’s still working, in part because several years ago she had a bout with cancer; i.e., even with employer sponsored group health insurance, she had a small mountain of uncovered medical bills.
She just learned her employer is shutting down at the end of the year. Imagine her anxiety over how she’d be able to afford health insurance on her own.
We visited with Vicki this week and enrolled her in a Medicare Advantage plan with modest co-pays and an out of pocket maximum that is lower than her prior coverage. And it only costs $24/month!
Sarah is just 34, self-employed in a new business that can’t afford health insurance.
Last month she was diagnosed with MS. Like Vicki, when she called for an appointment, she was in panic mode.
Taking advantage of the ACA Open Enrollment Period, she qualified for fabulous coverage effective January 1. Her premium net of tax credits will be $49/month. And, there are no pre-existing conditions limitations.
Remember this old commercial? So, where did Vicki and Sarah find “relief?”
From another name that starts with R!
Remember: the Medicare Annual Election Period ends this week, on the 7th; the ACA Open Enrollment on the 15th. (Antacids available year-round!)
