Heck of a storm last night in my neighborhood. Hard to send out a Tip without power! How about you;
everything OK?
Now back to work . . . . .
As reported by U.S. News & World Report, here are five common mistakes consumers make when buying or using their health insurance:
- Most of us can’t predict our claims in advance, so we tend to make our purchase decisions based on premium alone, without factoring in
deductibles, co-insurance and other out of pocket costs.
- Purchasing coverage without first checking the insurers’ drug formulary. Then what happens if your drug needs change?
- Receiving care Out of Network. Note, if on line Directories and providers give out conflicting information, it can be very hard sometimes to know for sure. All you can do is double & triple check!
- Not
knowing the difference between preventive and diagnostic services.
- Paying doctor/hospital bills before receiving your insurers’ Explanation of Benefits (EOB).
Fortunately, many of us can make mid-course corrections through employers' or the individual market Open Enrollment Periods.
Sounds easy,
right? Sort of like predicting our weather!
