Sure, but . . . . .
Under age 65 and not covered by an employer sponsored group plan? You can shop for and buy individual (family) coverage on the ‘Obamacare’ Marketplace: https://www.healthcare.gov/
Note the URL ends .gov.
Search engine algorithms (rankings) for ‘Individual’ or ‘Marketplace’ health insurance often lead consumers to one or more .com private websites. There, you’re likely to get high pressure/low
information sales pitches.
That happened to ‘Corrigan.’
By the time he did land on the Marketplace, self-enrolling seemed the lesser of two evils!
Later, when he couldn’t find a Provider who would take his insurance, we were
called. (Offshore customer service was even worse than the .com sales reps!)
Let’s cut to the chase.
Only agents who complete rigorous annual compliance training through the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) can sell Federally Facilitated Marketplace Plans (FFMP). Baked into the
premiums, commissions of ~ $20/month (heart be still) are paid by the insurance companies, whether you use an agent or not.
That means our services are essentially FREE to consumers.
Snarky pals would tease my clients are getting their money’s
worth.
