My father and Elton Streich (Milwaukee Brush Company) were Milwaukee Rotarians. Shortly after Charles Streich (Elton’s son) took over the business, he asked me to be their health insurance broker/consultant.
That was roughly 1985.
Then Milwaukee Brush hired a CFO (Joe) who also happened to be on the BOD of University Lake School. ULS’ health insurer was MetraHealth; the combined health insurance operation of MetLife and Travelers. When UnitedHealthcare acquired MetraHealth in 1995, ULS wasn’t sure what to do.
Joe suggested they talk to me.
This week, we
had our 30th Employee Renewal Meeting! (With, BTW, UHC.)
Both Charlie and Joe are clients (Medicare Supplement) to this day, too.
I share this brief ‘history’ with you because a friend recently observed Tip # 688 might well have signaled an impending retirement. (Note to self; save it.)
That gave me pause (literally, for two weeks), but how can I retire when people like this - after all these years - still have faith
in my knowledge, judgement, charm, astonishing good looks . . . . and droll sense of humor? (Quit while you’re ahead, Buster!)
I can’t.
You’ll tell me when . . . . and I’ll still love ALL of you.
