Last week we discussed how most health plans generally limit coverage outside the U.S. to Emergency and Urgent Care.
I ended Tip # 676 ‘promising’ more this week.
Let’s start with the CDC summary (HERE) of the three basic kinds of travel insurance; i.e., trip cancellation, travel health insurance and medical evacuation insurance.
Now look at the U.S. News analysis of the “9 Best Travel Insurance Companies of 2025” HERE.
After checking them out, you might find yourself wondering
- how pre-existing conditions may limit coverage. If, for example, you’re on any kind
of heart meds and have a heart attack, will your Plan pay anything?
- will you have to pay for care with a credit card and wait for reimbursement? How’s that work if your expenses exceed your cards’ limit?
- Does your Plan offer a concierge-type service to
help you find quality care no matter where you are?
None of them seem to do it all.
Which makes me wonder why I offered to go down this rabbit hole. (Reminder to self; see what happens when you bite off more than you can chew!)
When I find an expert in the field, I’ll circle back one
more time.
