Checking off my To Do list before boarding a plane. This Tip is the penultimate item.
Which reminds me of a sore subject; i.e., several months ago Einstein had to cancel a semi-pricey and uninsured overseas trip, as noted in Tip # 653.
OK. St. Augustine isn’t Cairo. This time my airline/hotel bookings are refundable, so trip cancellation insurance isn’t a concern . . . . or, my forte.
What about health insurance when travelling?
Unless you’re in an HMO, your health insurance is good just about everywhere in the US.
What about outside the US?
Coverage under Marketplace Individual Plans mimics Medicare coverage; i.e., Emergencies and Urgent Care. Click HERE for details.
Will a Medicare Supplement Plan
help?
Generally, your Supplement Plan only covers the gaps in what Medicare covers. Let that sink in a second. (We’re not just talking about overseas health care!)
Many Supplemental insurers offer a Foreign Travel Rider that may cover up to $100,000 of Emergency
or Urgent Care outside the U.S. Some Advantage Plans offer similar coverage. (Note: HMOs also cover Emergency/Urgent Care Out of Network.)
More next week.
And the last thing on my list? A very different boarding.
WOOF!
