Tuesday I was a participant in a Panel Discussion; a Milwaukee Business Journal event hosted by the Medical College of Wisconsin.
The 90-minute session was billed as “The Future of Health.” Attendees were (according to the invite) “a really dynamic group” that included scientists, engineers,
academics – about 15 of ‘em – and moi.
(ça devait être une erreur.)
With only 30 Seconds, let’s just say there are a lot of really smart people developing technologies aimed at improving outcomes while lowering costs. (Fingers crossed, Pollyanna!)
What I can note however, is how the MCW has grown since it relocated to the Milwaukee Regional Medical Center in 1978, followed by Froedtert in 1980 and Children’s Hospital in 1988. (MCW history HERE.)
Bumbling my way around this exponentially growing campus, then navigating myriad corridors while looking for the meeting room, one couldn’t help note the many plaques honoring donors.
Wait a minute.
Generous as those folks have been, isn’t it mostly
our “skyrocketing” premium dollars (and taxes) that have made all this possible?
And, they wouldn’t even validate my parking!
