ALL THIS FOR LESS THAN $10 A MONTH?
That’s the premium for a typical voluntary (employee
paid) Vision Plan.
It’ll cover an annual eye exam subject to a co-pay. And provide a frame or contact allowance; e.g., +/- $250. And more, such as UV and anti-reflective coatings, again subject to co-pays.
There are other benefits however, less obvious.
How about the fact that an eye exam - the only
opportunity to view blood vessels without expensive imagining - can detect diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, Lupus, MS and even rheumatoid arthritis!
But individuals at risk for these conditions often avoid primary health care visits.
Consider 75% of adults and 25% of children require some form of vision correction. The result; comprehensive eye exams occur
almost four-times more than an annual health physical.
Here’s one more eye-opening statistic. (Couldn’t resist!)
Sources estimate almost 80% of employees deal daily with a visual disturbance at work. Think blue light, eye strain, headaches, etc., partially explaining the popularity of Employer paid group plans (at a fractionally higher
cost).
Just a tad short of content, I close with this.
Did you know that 50% of Japanese men have cataracts!!
The other half drive Rincolns.
Ba dum tss!
