HOW ARE THESE EVEN LEGAL?
Judging from the Auto-Replies two weeks ago, lots of us have been on Spring Break. Welcome
back.
Ironically, just after writing my last ‘Happy Birthday Obamacare’ Tip, I heard a radio ad promoting what sounded like really low priced health insurance.
Listeners were invited to call “Scott” at American Medical Plans. He wasn’t around, but Darlene (in Dallas) asked my age (52, I wish), Zip Code, etc., and shortly thereafter a Proposal arrived;
$6,000 deductible for a monthly “contribution” of $339 or a $1,000 deductible for $502.
The “Program Guidelines” describe annual“sharing” limits of $27,500 ($275,000 lifetime) for “eligible medical services” which exclude for the first 24 months any “sharing” for pre-existing conditions.
Lots and lots of other “sharing” limits; e.g., hospital room and board up to $2,750/day for 10 days or, (you’re gonna love this) “$2,750 per procedure for up to two surgical procedures per year.”
FYI, the monthly premiums for ACA coverage with comparable deductibles would be ~ $660 or $858.
Please review Tip # 632 to see the value of an actual insurance policy.
BTW, isn’t the FCC monitoring this crap? Maybe they should just pull AM from our cars.
Oh, wait . . . .
