WHAT ARE THEY WAITING FOR?
I rescued a 7 year old Coton de Tulear recently. His name is Lucky. (Not quite like the
old joke!)
The cost of routine vet visits have been manageable; e.g., complete exam with vaccinations, $243.
But, for something major, I bought a pet insurance policy for $63.98/mo that will cover “Accidents & Illnesses, including cancer, surgeries, X-rays; use any vet, including specialty &
ER” (i.e., no Networks). There's a $250 deductible. (Quote your pet HERE.)
If Lucky was a human (he’d be 49, at 7:1), the premium for a $3000 deductible HSA Plan would be $835/mo (13:1).
Oh, and the Medicare EOB itemizing the unbundled costs of my last doctor visit, suggests 13:1 ain’t even close!
Switch now to two recent WSJ headlines:
This has me wondering – per today’s Tip title – when are Private Equity Companies going to swoop in and buy all the Independent
Veterinary Clinics for ridiculous multiples of EBIDTA?
The ROI will still be fantastic.
Then we can talk about the “sky-rocketing” cost of pet-care.
WOOF!
