Jeopardy fans; the category is ‘Health Care.’ Today’s ‘Headline’ is the answer.
First.
Following three recent doctor visits, my Explanation of Benefits (EOB) arrived.
After ‘Provider Discounts’ and the amounts ‘Your Plan Paid,’ it shows ‘What You Might Owe.’ Which is $0. (Helps to have a great Agent!!)
So why even bother looking at the details? (Well, there’s a Tip to be written.)
Of possible interest.
For each of the three visits, the Procedure Codes are listed, but not the Provider or any detail.
Curious, I go to the American
Association of Professional Coders (AAPC) website to de-code. (Free look-up HERE).
Ah, 92014. Yup, I did have a routine Ophthalmology visit.
And an Annual Wellness visit (G0439) and Office Visit (99214) with my
PCP.
A visit with the Dermatologist (99213) apparently involved some “evaluation and management” and, an X-Ray (7010F) for which no code exists ('cause I didn't have one!).
BTW, care to guess why docs always ask about your current medications. They get paid for that (G8427), of course.
Oh well, I owe nothing and someone else is paying the bills, so who cares?
Perhaps, in part, explaining what ‘ails’ our health care system!
Oh, and the Jeopardy question;
How many CPT Codes
are there?
