Tip # 630
BEST PERFORMANCE IN A SHORT SUBJECT?
We assisted a small law firm in setting up a health plan in December of 2021.
The ‘sold’ premium payments were authorized to be pulled on a bank auto-draft.
Pretty routine stuff.
Except at the first renewal Dec ’22, there was a modest premium increase. Ditto on the next renewal, Dec ’23.
Recently the owner’s wife tried to fill a prescription,
only to learn their coverage had been cancelled for non-payment of premium.
Now the fun begins. (Frederick March would be envious of this performance.)
Absent any knowledge of a problem (really?) and since premiums were paid every month, "the insurer has no right to cancel coverage” and “is in breach
of contract!”
Note the carrier is willing to re-instate the policy if the premium shortages are paid; a phone call and a credit card and the matter is resolved.
“He that troubleth his own house shall inherit the wind!”
