THE END IS NEAR!
What a lousy weekend! Let’s hope the arrival of May brings sunshine.
May
(12th) also brings the end of the Covid-19 Public Health Emergency (PHE).
That means most health plans will no longer cover the cost of
Over-the-Counter (OTC) test kits. Vaccines and booster shots however (under CDC guidelines), will continue to be covered – as with most preventive care – with zero-dollar cost share, when in-network.
Covid lab tests and treatment will be covered in accordance with your specific medical plan design; e.g., subject to deductibles, co-insurance, etc.
During the PHE most Telehealth/Virtual Visit co-pays were waived. Starting May 12th, Virtual Visits will be subject (again) to the ‘standard’ terms and conditions of your Plan.
Here’s another important change.
Medicaid (Badgercare) enrollees may lose coverage as eligibility reverts to stricter pre-PHE rules.
It would be paramount for
individuals in that case to enroll in a new plan without any break in coverage or pre-existing conditions limitations; eligibility for an employer sponsored group plan or The Marketplace (Obamacare)* would meet those criteria. (Sample ‘Life Events’ Guide HERE.)
