LET US TAKE CHARGE OF REFORMING HEALTHCARE -
FINI (For Now)
Over the last two months, I’ve tried to identify a few fundamental flaws in our current fractured health care ‘system’ and how those might be
addressed.
Recalling my old (snail mail) newsletter, here’s “A (Long) View from the Crow’s Nest.”
Health care spending as a percent of GDP will “skyrocket” past 20% as the 2024 Election Cycle heats up, so the same old debate over private sector solutions versus Single Payer will resurface.
Four years later, health care spending under President DeSantis (?!) will hit 25% of GDP, because we still won’t have addressed a System that rewards
volume, not outcomes.
Finally, with employer and individual premiums alike at a breaking point, radical solutions surge in popularity. Those might be:
- Expand Medicare down to age 62, while raising the Social Security retirement age to 67.
- Expand the Obamacare Marketplace for individuals - (Medicare-like) Advantage Plans for All - by repealing the tax deduction for employer sponsored group health plans.
Passed by Congress, President Ro Khanna (??!!) signs ‘Obamacare 2.0’ into law March 23rd, 2032.
That’ll be as good a time as any to sign off in Tip # 1048.
