LET'S TAKE CHARGE OF REFORMING HEALTHCARE - PART I
Efforts by Health Systems (Providers) and Insurers (Payers) over decades have done literally nothing to slow the inexorable rise in health care spending, as illustrated in Tip 571 (wherein it was also observed, Politicians have gone silent on the subject).
Perhaps it’s time for another Stakeholder to do the heavy lifting.
Who?
We the People!
[Is there an Urologist in the house? Get it?]
Today is the first day of Advent; the “beginning” of the Christian year.
It seems fitting then that this week these Tips might begin on a new path; one seeking to lower our utilization of health care.
To repeat a Tips mantra; premiums are high because the cost of health care is high. Reducing how often – and perhaps where – we access treatment, may not actually lower your premiums, but it sure as heck will reduce your out of pocket expenses.
Enlisting a cadre of real experts* (ya mean “Dr. Google” isn’t always reliable?!), a dash of my snarky humor, and a ginormous increase in Tips subscribers, maybe – just maybe – together WE can ‘reform’ health care.
Eat your heart out,
Hillary!
