"YA THINK THERE'S A METHOD TO THIS MADNESS?'
‘Nelson’ is having a nodule removed from his lower lung next week. Preliminary to the surgery, he had to have a stress test. There’s a certain logic to making sure one’s heart is strong enough for the rigors of surgery and recovery.
That said, Nelson wondered if he’d be anesthetized and flat on his back, why the surgeon was worried about a heart attack.
Asked another way, was a stress test always a pre-requisite for routine surgeries?
What’s changed?
Then there’s this unrelated (well, not really) nugget.
‘Kyndall’ had a routine physical. During the exam, her doctor asked how she’d been
sleeping. Seems like a reasonable question.
A month later, she – unlike most of us – actually looked at her insurer’s EOB (Explanation of Benefits).
There was a $386 charge for the exam and, a $193 charge for a “sleep study.”
I kid you not.
Just last week, Tip # 563 warned of larger than expected premium hikes in the wake of Health
Systems recently disclosed financial hardships.
Here’s another forecast.
More creative plans of treatment that will make your head spin.
Just don’t say anything to your doctor.
She’ll hear vertigo and think “Cha-ching!”
