ME THINKS I MAY HAVE THE WRONG LICENSE!
Just wrapped up a call with ‘another satisfied customer’ so forgive me for being a little mischievous.
You’ll get it in a minute. (I mean, 30 seconds.)
Will and Karen relocated
to Wisconsin three weeks ago. While in California, they had COBRA coverage through a Blue Cross PPO. That network however, wasn’t a good fit for Wisconsin.
No worries.
Moving creates an
Obamacare ‘Special Election Period’ (SEP). With Karen still in California packing boxes, Will took it upon himself (apparently) to work with my office to buy new coverage effective 9/1.
We’ve noted before, most individual plans sold in Wisconsin through the Marketplace have narrow networks. Since Will & Karen are new to the area and have to pick new doctors anyway, this all seemed pretty routine.
Not to Karen.
She absolutely does not want to be enrolled in an HMO and she’s livid she wasn’t consulted in the final decision!
While I was able to help Karen understand she can select a new plan in just four months - the Open Enrollment Period (OEP) is January 1st - she was cool to my offer to mediate at their dinner table any day next
week.
Some people just don’t ‘get’ my sense of humor!
