According to Wikipedia, in the 10+ years since these Tips first appeared, there have been no less than 57 “wars.” 27 are on-going! (More HERE.)
Now there’s the escalation of war in Ukraine and it feels different.
From an email just this morning: “The [Ukraine] war to me is very frightening, mostly economically. Our life’s savings hop around like rabbits and that’s nerve wracking. I see images of families fleeing
with their pets and that’s almost too much to take. What and where would we go in a situation like that?”
(Perhaps forgotten – in a classic case of NIMBY – are similar images of the Sudanese, Kurds and countless other refugees around the globe. But I digress.)
For all of you with similarly frazzled nerves, don’t hesitate to reach out for help.
Start with the ‘Nurseline’ phone number on your health insurer’s ID card. There you’ll be triaged (in absolute privacy) to a mental health provider. And remember, under ‘Obamacare’ RULES, such services are required to be covered the same as any other medically necessary condition.
Often I end these Tips with a snarky attempt at humor.
Prayers that will be appropriate some other day soon!
