Oh, well. Happy New Year to you too, Buster!
A large percentage of health plans renew January 1st. Switching insurers always results in distributing new ID cards. That can happen when renewing with the same carrier too, especially if there are changes to co-pays, the drug formulary, etc.
ID cards are mailed to members’ homes, usually in plain envelopes.
Question. Which is more likely to occur; some bad actor steals insurer correspondence from your mailbox, or you trash an unidentifiable envelope?
Oh well, again.
Thanks to the sheer volume of year end activity, your new ID card may still be in process. Or, you already tossed it!
In either event, armed with just a policy number, know that you can go to your insurer’s website, create an account, and print a new ID card just about any time.
And while you’re there, check out the wellness plans, gym memberships, healthy lifestyle discounts and/or countless other value-added benefits of being a member. (One insurer even sells discounted pet insurance.)
We love helping most callers ‘discover’ these resources.
But we sent ‘Buster’ to Manila. (See Tip # 479.)
