In every employee meeting – often here I’ve noted their importance – we ask that at least one thing be remembered; i.e., our name and phone number. I use the line “You never know when or why you’ll need us, but when you need us, you’ll
know!”
Such was the case last Friday.
Jane is employed by a long time client.
Last week she accompanied her sister to the hospital. After learning her sister urgently needed a life-saving transplant, she also learned her sister’s COBRA was ending in three days.
Now that’s an ‘Emergency.’
I was in the office when Jane called – but I’m pretty much available 24/7 by cell – and given the circumstances, her sister was eligible for a Special (Obamacare) Election Period. We were able to enroll her in a new plan immediately, with no break in coverage or exclusions for
pre-existing conditions.
Client or not, solving this kind of problem makes me feel about as good as Jane’s sister will feel after she gets a new liver . . . . . without going through bankruptcy.
911 has its place.
