Of lesser consequence, “Koreens’s Law” (LRB 4440/1) is percolating in Madison. It has to do with removing insurance company barriers for receiving certain cancer treatment
medications. (Co-Sponsorship Memorandum HERE.)
I was asked this week by one of the state’s largest business groups for my take on this.
Apparently they think I’ve read the requisite 500 pages of literature to have achieved ‘expert’ status on the subject! (There I go again.)
More specifically, they wanted to know what impact this legislation would have on premiums for employer sponsored health plans.
Pretty simple.
When they pull on your heart strings, prepare to open the purse strings.
Return for a moment to the wrangling over ‘Build Back Better.’
One of many stumbling blocks toward consensus is whether or not to allow Medicare to negotiate prices of expensive drugs.
You mean the ones we see on TV?
Here’s a simple alternative.
Just ban direct to consumer prescription drug advertising.
Presuming a decrease in lung cancer since tobacco ads ended, might the savings pay for Koreen’s medications, and then some?
Call that an audible; maybe one we can all ‘Love!’
